National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship
Recently, our government launched the “National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship.” This new strategy was contrived through a meeting with Dell CEO Michael Dell, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse, senior executives from Sony Electronics, and EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. The intention of this strategy bears the following four goals:
- Build incentives for greener electronics, and enhance science, research and technology development in the United States.
- Ensure that the Federal government leads by example.
- Increase safe and effective management and handling of used electronics in the United States.
- Reduce harm from US exports of e-waste and improve safe handling of used electronics in developing countries.
These commendable goals will lead to a more structured industry that is environmentally focused. Furthermore, through this standardization, the industry will thrive and grow, creating thousands of green jobs and many business opportunities.
